The Food Group draws together our outstanding know-how and experience of handling legal and commercial issues, critical to the food industry to deliver best practice and genuine commercial advantage to food companies. Members of the Group have extensive experience in acting for food companies over many years in the areas of corporate finance, mergers, acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures. In addition, specific food industry related matters which the Group regularly advise upon include competition law, all forms of commercial agreements relevant to the food industry, including distribution, brand protection including trademarks, health, safety & environment, licensing and all aspects of food law.

As with any sector, understanding the industry can make a huge difference to the advice you need to receive. With the growth in legislation from Europe and an increasingly litigious environment, obtaining the right advice has never been more important.

The Food Group is headed up by Partner Paul Attwood, who has worked as an in house lawyer for a major food retailer and includes over 20 specialists from each of the areas listed above. To support our clients, the Group produces a regular Food Magazine entitled "dealing with food" that contains an overview of what is happening within the food industry including early warnings of legislation. The Group also hosts regular food events that address topical legal issues.
