Hilary is a partner specialising in regulatory compliance and litigation with a strong sector bias in relation to food, retail, hotel & leisure, construction and energy.
Hilary works closely with clients to help design and implement systems to minimise exposure to challenges under a wide range of regulatory legislation including the Health & Safety at Work Act, the Food Safety Act, the Consumer Protection for Unfair Trading Regulations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. She regularly appears in courts and tribunals across the UK representing companies which have been prosecuted for regulatory breaches. She is dual qualified in English and Scottish law allowing her to advise national clients.
Chambers’ guide to the legal profession consistently ranks Hilary as a leader in the field of health and safety, food law and advertising & marketing commenting that she receives rave reviews from clients who attest to being “never less than one hundred percent happy” with her representation.
Hilary is an experienced spokesperson and has given a number of media interviews to national broadcasters such as Sky News, BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 5 Live, in addition to national newspapers such as the Financial Times and The Daily Telegraph.
