Business law firm DWF were proud to sponsor Best Dairy Product of the Year at the prestigious Deliciouslyorkshire Awards Ceremony, held at Rudding Park in Harrogate.

The Best Dairy Product award was won by Shepherds Purse Cheeses, the artisan cheese maker from Thirsk, North Yorkshire, for its Monks Folly cheese.

It is a privilege to be recognised among so many fantastic food and drink companies from our region”.

Shepherds Purse was among 20 companies from Yorkshire collecting the accolades at the seventh annual awards which was attended by 400 industry representatives.  Spearheaded by Deliciouslyorkshire, which champions local food and drink retailers, suppliers, producers and celebrates the exceptional achievements of local businesses, the awards were presented by BBC Radio 2’s resident foodie Nigel Barden and Hambleton Ales owner and Deliciouslyorkshire non-exec director Nick Stafford.

DWF representatives were joined on their table by award winners James Parker, from Parkers Veg (winning Best Fresh Produce) and Jo Cartright from Swillington Organic Farm Limited (winning Best Meat Product). Congratulations to all the winners on the evening.

Peter Allen, Head of DWF’s Food Group said “We are proud to sponsor this award. It really is a great showcase for the finest products on the market. Our involvement shows DWF's commitment to supporting growing businesses in the UK food and drink sector. We would be proud to call any of those who won or were shortlisted for awards a client of the firm, as they are all successful growing businesses selling fantastic products. They are just the sort of businesses we love to partner with and to support and share in their growth story.”

DWF’s long standing food group recently acted for First Milk in the formation of a strategic joint venture with New Zealand-based food ingredients producer, Fonterra, to share intellectual property and industry expertise.

The venture saw First Milk work collaboratively with Fonterra to deliver innovative whey protein products to meet a growing European demand. The venture builds on the First Milk’s strategy to work with its partners to drive market-leading solutions to industry challenges.

Deliciouslyorkshire boasts a growing membership, representing more than 540 Yorkshire businesses and it is the group’s aim to offer more support and consultation for members to find out exactly what their growing businesses need.
