Public Procurement
Public procurement law is a complex and important area of European and UK regulation. Specific EU Directives and domestic implementing regulations, backed up by the EU Treaty itself, regulate the way public authorities and utilities award contracts for works, supplies and services.
The rules have been applied and interpreted through an ever-growing body of case law before the European Court of Justice and our national courts which means that unsuccessful bidders are turning more frequently to procurement litigation, and the potential sanctions for non-compliance can be severe.
DWF has a wealth of experience in advising public bodies and bidders upon the procurement aspects of major projects and contracts. Whether your business is a public body or private sector organisation, our specialists have the expertise to support you through the procurement cycle and help you avoid litigation. We are members of the Competition Law Association, Procurement Lawyers Association and Law Society Competition Group, and have experience of acting for both contracting authorities in defence of proceedings and for bidders seeking to challenge a public procurement process.
